Gone but not forgotten

Last night at 7:38pm our darling Clare passed away. Her beloved Glenn was with her, holding her hand and talking to her about all the wonderful things they had done together. She was not in pain and won’t ever be again.

Rest In Peace Clare. You will always be our hero.

The Unicorn Foundation

This coming Saturday, November 10, is World NET Cancer day.

The Unicorn Foundation is doing an incredible job of helping to raise awareness of NETs and sharing the stories of people living with this disease.

Unfortunately Clare is not alone in her fight but her attitude and willingness to put herself out and share her story is shared with many others who are also battling NETs.

All in the hope to raise awareness and in turn a cure.

Family Time

As the photo’s from Clare’s trivia night and fundraiser roll in, Clare and Glenn continue to be overwhelmed by the community support from the event. More than $10,000 was raised in the live auctions alone, and monies continue to be tallied from the silent auction and other fundraising efforts. Thank you will never be enough.

Pain management continues to be a concern, with Clare in and out of hospital in order to get it under control. But her medical team are prioritising time with her family and hoping to keep her at home to spend as much time as possible with Glenn, Angus, Sophie, Levi and Kasey.

Please keep sending your messages of love and support as they bring much positivity to Clare’s day.

A don’t forget to keep sharing your photos of the There For Clare bands with the hashtag #thereforclare.

Oh what a night!

Oh what a night!

Last night’s There for Clare Fundraiser was an enormous success. The Gisborne Sporting Association rooms were buzzing from start to finish, with raffles, games, trivia, plenty of laughs and many heartfelt moments.

On behalf of Clare and Glenn, we want to send the most enormous thank you to all those who attended, as well as everyone who donated, sponsored, or gave their time in any way to help make last night such a hit.

Doctors Orders

Clare remains in hospital while her team of specialists continue to manage her pain and associated issues. She will hopefully received her third immunotherapy treatment in the second or third week of this month, so the doctors want to ensure Clare’s health remains a priority so she’s ready for that.

Whilst Clare is obviously devastated at not being able to attend tomorrow night’s There for Clare Fundraiser in Gisborne her spirits remain high. She is strong, still fighting hard and determined to win!

Another update… another hospital admission. On Monday Clare was admitted to Royal Melbourne Hospital where they have spent the week again trying to manage the pain from the disease’s progression as well as working to improve kidney functionality.

We are hopeful of a release early next week, as Clare needs to intercept her online purchases before Glenn discovers any more parcels at the front door!

Clare loves receiving texts etc especially when they include photos of supporting the cause, so please keep it up!

HOME TIME!

While we were all hoping for the Pies to get up for Glenn, Clare is now at home so that’s the best win anyone could hope for.

She has now received her second dose of immunology which means the next few weeks remain critical for progress. Clare will have a Nephrostomy bag for the next few weeks until the cancer hopefully reduces.

The entire Waites/ Waller family are so grateful for the support of the community and love receiving your messages. We encourage you to keep them coming!

Princess Sophie turns 4!

Clare remains hospitised and, unfortunately, was unable to receive her immunotherapy treatment this week, as scheduled. However, the team has stablised her pain and established an ongoing pain management plan for Clare.

At the moment, Clare’s kidney and liver function are the doctor’s primary concern. If these are addressed to a suitable level, Clare will be home later in the week.

Huge thanks for everyone are all the love, support and goodies to Clare, Glenn and the kids while she has been in hospital.

Finally, whilst the mighty Dees didn’t produce a fairytale (we were all crossing our fingers!), Princess Sophie Waites had her 4th birthday party yesterday and then visited Clare in hospital to continue the celebrations.

Immunotherapy Underway

Clare has begun the immunotherapy trial and will hopefully receive her 2nd dose this coming Tuesday. Clare is currently hospitalised as they try and create a pain management plan for her and resolve issues in the abdomen.
We are very grateful for everyone’s support and generosity for the ‘There for Clare’ fundraisers. Special mention to Angus and Sophie’s childcare, the Learning Sanctuary Gisborne. They continue to go above and beyond in supporting our family and conducting fundraisers in their personal time.
A huge thanks to Foodworks, learning sanctuary and everyone who supported the fundraisers today.
Finally and most importantly…. Go Dee’s!!
